Merseyside set for eight days of rain as remains of Atlantic Hurricane Pablo sweeps in

The remains of Atlantic Hurricane Pablo will bring eight days of rain to Merseyside, starting tonight.

Storm Pablo will be swept up by a low-pressure system , on a direct collision course with the UK, and bring miserable weather with it.

Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon told the Express: “Rain will move in from the west on Friday, it is looking like quite a miserable day and it will be quite breezy.

“While there is some uncertainty over the weekend weather, what we do know is that it is going to be wet and windy with the potential for gale-force gusts especially across the south west.

“Low pressure is moving right across the UK, the remains of Hurricane Pablo is going to be in the mix, it will be swept into the westerly flow of this Atlantic low coming into the UK.

“Hurricane Pablo formed on Sunday to the west of Iberia – it is the farthest east on record that an Atlantic Hurricane has formed.”

On Merseyside rain is set to begin on Friday evening from around 6pm.

At 8am on Saturday rain will begin and continue to fall for eight hours right up until the early evening.

And while Sunday begins a little brighter the rain won't stay away for long, setting in at 6pm.

Over the weekend there will be highs of 11 degrees across the weekend.

Rain is predicted to fall everyday until next Saturday, with Tuesday the only day we can expect to see a long dry spell.

The Met Office forecast said: "Friday night will see rain, heavy at times, that will push in from the west during the first half of the night, but should move through quickly enough to leave dry spells later on. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

"Saturday will see early morning sunny spells be replaced by heavy rain and strong winds moving in from the southwest. Areas further north may escape the worst of the rain. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

"Sunday will see heavy showers around early on, perhaps brighter later.

"There will be outbreaks of rain on Monday, with some brighter spells. Turning chillier but mostly dry on Tuesday."
