Merseyside police officer faces gross misconduct claims over 'inappropriate' contact

A Merseyside Police Constable is to face a misconduct hearing of allegations of "behaving inappropriately" towards seven females.

It's alleged the PC, who has not been named by the force, had "excessive one-to-one contact" and sent "inappropriately personal messages" to the people concerned.

The PC is due to go before a misconduct panel over the allegations, as they were assessed as being at the level of gross misconduct.

A privacy ruling has been imposed on the hearing and no further information is being released by the police at this stage.

A timeframe has not been released about when the allegations are reported to have happened, but the force said it included inappropriate conduct with what they described as seven different "females."

It's alleged the PC came into contact with them during his police duties.

The force said: "A Police Constable faces allegations that he breached the Standard of Professional Behaviour of Duties & Responsibilities, Authority, Respect & Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct by having inappropriate contact with 7 females with whom he came into contact during his police duties.

"The alleged inappropriate contact included variously contact without a proper policing purpose, excessive one-to-one contact, contact via personal mobile telephones / social media accounts, sending inappropriately personal messages and developing inappropriate personal / emotional relationships.

"The allegations against this Police Constable have been assessed at the level of gross misconduct.

"The hearing will be held in private."
