Merseyside Police offering £40k jobs and you only need two GCSEs

Merseyside Police are looking for recruits for a new scheme and you only have to have two GCSEs to apply.

The force have a number of opportunities for Student Officers who are looking to build their careers, represent communities and serve the large population of the Merseyside area.

The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship lasts for three years with on the job training, academic modules, course work and exams.

The academic learning on this course is undertaken and coincides with serving as Student Police Officer, which involves active frontline duties for Merseyside Police.

During the three years candidates will earn an annual salary of £24,177, but this can rise to £40,000 once qualified.

Lessons will be delivered at Merseyside Police Training venues at Mather Avenue in Liverpool and Lea Green in St Helens and there may be some learning at LJMU sites.

To get onto the programme you will need to have achieved a minimum of a Level 2/GCSE qualification (or equivalent) in Maths and English (At grade C or above) prior to entry.

After successfully completing your apprenticeship you will be awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Policing Practice.

To join Merseyside Police as a Student Officer you must meet the below criteria:

  • Have Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE grade C or above)
  • Be over the age of 18
  • Not be a member of an extreme political organisation such as BNP, Nation Front or Combat 18
  • Be from a member state of the European Economic Area or have the right of leave to enter and remain in the UK for an indefinite period
  • Not have had a Police Officer application turned down by another Force in the last 6 months
  • Not have existing county court judgments outstanding against you

Once qualified you can work in a variety of locations across Merseyside over a 40 hour week.
