Merseyside hospitals record no new coronavirus deaths

No further coronavirus deaths were recorded in our region's hospitals according to the newest figures released by NHS England.

The figures, which record the number of new coronavirus deaths in hospitals in England record no new hospital deaths in any of Merseyside's hospital trusts.

The news comes after this week saw multiple new coronavirus deaths in Liverpool's hospital s after weeks of no deaths from the virus.

On Thursday, three new coronavirus deaths were registered at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs The Royal Liverpool, Aintree and Broadgreen hospitals.

Thursday's figures also saw one further death in the wider region at Halton and Warrington NHS Trust.

Across the country a further four coronavirus deaths were recorded in England taking the total figure of hospital deaths to 29,456.

A single hospital death was recorded in the entire North West region at Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust in Greater Manchester.

In Merseyside, the current hospital death totals for coronavirus are as follows:

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 209

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust - 10

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 138

An NHS England spokesperson said: "A further four people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals in England to 29,456.

"Patients were aged between 66 and 88 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.

"Their families have been informed."
