There have been 159 unsolved murders in Merseyside across the last 90 years.
All the cases, which date back to 1931, are all kept on file with officers never losing hope that they might catch the people responsible.
The long list starts with the murder of Julia Wallace which is one of the city's longest running mysterious.
Mrs Wallace's murder has been described as Liverpool's 'impossible' murder, with the details of the case typing investigators up in knots.
Dubbed "The Locked Room Murder" it has baffled detectives for decades and marks the first on a list of 159 cold cases that the force has yet to solve.
While many of the crimes go back decades, others are far more recent involving ongoing investigations as opposed to cold case files.
All unsolved murders are subject to regular reviews which take into consideration any new information or developments in forensic science.
Previously, Merseyside Police has said that they are committed to finding the people responsible for the crimes.
Earlier this year, Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said: "Many of these are current investigations and we are continuing to following lines of enquiry.
"The older cases are subject to regular review by the Serious Crime Review Unit (SCRU) to establish if there have been any new developments."
