Merseyside Fire Service is recruiting potential 'life savers' who can keep a cool head

If you’ve ever thought you have what it takes to remain cool in a crisis and potentially save someone’s life then this could be your perfect job.

Merseyside Fire Service have job opportunities available on their fire control team.

Fire control operators are the first contact someone has in a life-threatening situation.

The role will require you to take emergency calls, mobilise and monitor resources throughout Merseyside, update incident logs and ensure fire crews attendance times are met.

Over the last 12 months, control staff received more than 78,000 calls - more than 20,000 of which were 999 calls.

The emergency service is currently recruiting for fire control operators to join their team in Bootle.

You will need to be a highly effective communicator who can remain calm and focused under emotionally challenging situations, with the ability to make decisions based on the assessment of risk.

Salary is £16,980 per annum while training - rising to £20,047 in development and then increasing to £25,652 when competent.

The salary is inclusive of providing on call cover but you will not be required to provide on call cover until training has been completed.

Hours are three 12-hour shifts in every 8-day period, working both days and nights.

Day shift is 7am to 7pm and nights are 7pm to 7am and you will also be available on call for 48-hours in each eight day period.
