Merseyrail services disrupted after a person was hit by a train

Merseyrail services are disrupted after a person was hit by a train.

Emergency services were called to Bache station after reports of the incident shortly after 6pm on Tuesday evening.

According to Merseyrail , services on the Chester line were starting and terminating at Hooton station before replacement buses were requested.

A spokesperson for Merseyrail confirmed the incident on Twitter: "Due to a person being struck by a train at Bache, services on the Chester line are currently disrupted.

"Services are starting and terminating at Hooton. More info to follow."

At around 8pm a spokesperson confirmed that rail replacement buses were now in operation.

On Twitter, the company said: "Following a person being struck by a train at Bache, services on the Chester line are currently disrupted.

"Trains are starting and terminating at Hooton.

"Rail replacement buses are in operation between Hooton & Chester & vice versa."

A number of people on Twitter offered words of support to the driver and train staff involved in the incident.

Fiona Morris said: "I hope the train driver is alright x thoughts go to every one involved x"

Paul the Cyclist also said: "So sad for the driver and guard who have to deal with this.

"Hope they have the support they may need before a return to work."

The condition of the person who was hit by the train is not yet known.
