MerseyGirls on ITV Britain's Got Talent break down in tears after getting standing ovation

Wirral dance group MerseyGirls received a standing ovation from the judges on Britain's Got Talent , and then broke down in tears.

The girls wowed the judges with another brilliant dance routine, which was met with a standing ovation from Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams. Amanda Holden said she wanted her own daughters to take something away from the girls' performance.

Simon Cowell appeared to be genuinely moved by the energy of the girls' routine. Singling out the "little one" for a chat, the young dancer  told him they had "worked so hard".

She then burst into tears, and was followed by the rest of the girls.

The girls' performance was met with an instant reaction on social media.

Julia Carlile from MerseyGirls (Andrew Teebay)

@Laurancollins said: "Absolutely stunning girls your passion and talent shines through. Wishing you all the best of luck."

@DanixRx said: "Incredible and beautiful performance so proud of you."

Formerly known as Just Us, the Merseygirls are a group of friends who have been dancing together since the age of five.

Merseygirls have performed on BGT before. In 2017 Simon Cowell agreed to personally intervene after he learned that one of the girls - Julia Carlile -  suffered from a curvature of the spine. Her condition melted the hearts of viewers.

@thisismarc23 said: "I know what you had to go through and it's the hardest thing to overcome. You all should be so proud of yourself! Love from a fellow spiney warrior."

The music mogul paid for her to undergo surgery which corrected the curvature. The procedure is reported to have cost in the region of £175,000.

Julia appears to have made a full recovery.
