Mersey hospitals record 18 new coronavirus deaths

A further 18 coronavirus patients have died at hospitals in our area.

Today's update from the NHS brings more tragedy for the hard-hit Trusts across the city region.

A further nine deaths have been recorded at the under pressure Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust, which runs the Royal Liverpool, Aintree and Broadgreen hospitals.

This means that a total of 721 patients have now died after testing positive for the virus in Liverpool's main hospitals.

The trust which runs St Helens and Knowsley is also continuing to face rising tragedies.

Five further deaths have taken its overall figure to 297.

There were also additional deaths recorded at NHS Trusts covering Southport and Halton.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 298

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 199 (+2)

Across England, a further 302 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 33,637.

Patients were aged between 13 and 100 years old. All except 12 (aged 56 to 99 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 30 March to 3 November 2020.
