Merit Culture’s August Issue Features ‘Noun Al Neswa’ Section

Released by Merit Publishing in Cairo, the August issue of Merit Culture Magazine features diverse topics and sections.

The first section shed lights on Christians in the East in eight articles: “Christianity in Egypt,” by novelist and storyteller Raouf Massaad; “Eastern Christians in the West,” by Egyptian-German writer Dr. Majed Izzat Israel; “Christian Fundamentalism between the Need and Rejection of Restorationism,” by Issam al-Zahiri; “Reading in the History, Understanding and Interpreting the Present, the Future,” by Egyptian-American writer Ayman Ajami; “Crusades and Religious Polarization Carnival,” by Dr. Mohammed Fayad; “Copts in Migration and Church Role,” by Egyptian-American writer Francois Basili; and “Hypatia: Light Inspiration or Darkness Messenger?” by Lasmar Lashin.

The second section “Critical Visions” is dedicated to articles reviewing the “I Pronoun,” a novel written by Algerian poet and critic Faisal al-Ahmar. The section includes five articles: “Investigating the Imaginary Matter of Reality” by Dr. Wasila Bousis (Algeria); “Many Stories for One Voice” by Tarek Bouhala (Algeria); “Spoken Details of Recessive Narrative” by Dr. Mohammed Younes (Iraq); “Moral Matter in the I Pronoun” by Dr. Khaled Akias (Algeria); “I Pronoun: City of Bad Reality!” by Al Tayeb Khaledi (Algeria); in addition to “I Pronoun…Reading of Pleasure and Companionship” by Marwa al-Oraibi (Algeria); and an interview with Faisal al-Ahmar by Khadija Naili (Algeria).

The third section “Noun Al Neswa” is dedicated to discussing Taysir Najar’s story sequel “Like a Happy Family.” It includes three articles: “Physical Seduction and Spirit Seductions,” by Dr. Ibrahim Mansour; “Family Containment in ‘Like a Happy Family’” by Dr. Ishraq Sami (Iraq); and “Story Sequel and Reality Mirrors” by researcher Dina Nabil. Also featured is “He was Crying for me,” an unpublished short story by Najjar.

In the Poetry and Story sections, the magazine offers 12 poems and eight stories by poets and writers from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Palestine and Yemen.

The “Speech Restoration” section features two articles including “Islam and Science…Integration or Conflict!” by Salwa Farouk. In the “Around the World” section, you can read: “Balancing Religious Foundations and Human Rights” an article by Australian Legal Expert and Lawyer Michael Kirby, translated by Dr. Mohammed Abdo Abu al-Ola; “Reflections in Life” featuring a bouquet of poems by French novelist and poet Jules Renard, translated by Atef Mohammed Abdul Majid.

In the “Cultures and Arts” section, you can find an interview entitled “I Feel Sad for the Poet who Lives in me” with Poet Fathi Abdul Sami’ by Rasha Husni.

In the “Cinema” section, Dr. Lana Abdul Rahman wrote an article titled “In the PK Film…Alien Criticizes Clerics’ Authority in Human Life.” In the “Antiquities” section, you can read “Al Akkad Writes about Standards of Nations’ Progress,” by Dr. Rida Mohammed Abdul Rahim; the “Figures” section includes an article by poet Abdul Rahim Taye’ about Novelist Wahid al-Tawila; and a article by Dr. Nasser Ahmed Senna about “Architecture in the Literature of Jamal al-Ghaytani.” The “Books” section also features two articles including “Duality of Terrorism and Death in Literature of post-Algerian Crisis” by Khadija Masrouq (Algeria).
