Merger makes Sun Media Canada's largest publisher

Sun Media has become Canada's largest newspaper publisher with the acquisition of Osprey Media. It can now boast a weekly readership of more than 6.4m, more than 1.6m more than the nearest competition, CanWest Media. Sun Media's ultimate owner is Quebecor whose ceo, Pierre Karl Peladeau, says he believes in the future of print, adding: "We believe that size does matter as the industry adjusts to new competitive realities."
