Morgan Cibilic has disposed of Central Coaster Wade Carmichael in his heat of 16 this morning and is in to the quarter finals.
Morgan Cibilic's form is continuing after his shock victory over John John Florence yesterday, having Central Coast surfer Wade Carmichael in a "combo" halfway through his 30 minute heat.
A combo is when both his wave scores are higher than their opponents.
Commentators were impressed with Cibilic's form and his ability to surf with injury, discussing his performance to qualify for the tour in Hawaii in a knee brace, and also a recent perforated eardrum.
Mick Fanning is to come out of retirement to join next week's Narrabeen Cup as a wild card and told the commentators it was "now or never". He said he wasn't ready for Newcastle but was looking forward to a one-off return to competition.
He had surgery late last year to clear out his knee, and was well and truly back in the water, sporting a bruise under one eye after a recent wipeout "hitting the sand".
He said he was one of the people who said "who's that?" when it came to Morgan Cibilic, but with both sponsored by Rip Curl, they have gotten to know each other and did some surfing together including a clip called Postcards from Morgs:

As we write, Julian Wilson has just lost to Brazilian Adriano de Souza, leaving a number of waves go, waiting for his moment, but getting caught by the buzzer.
