Merchant City restaurant invents Scotland's first ever mushroom flavoured ice-cream

If you’re a fun-guy or fun-gal then The Dhabba in Merchant City has definitely come up with something different.

In celebration of National Mushroom month, chefs have invented Scotland's first ever mushroom ice cream.

This month launches the season of mushrooms, from September to November. The UK boasts over14,000 species of wild mushroom - plenty to make a decent pint of ice-cream or two.

The Mushroom Kulfi is made by The Dhabba’s chefs from cream, milk, sugar, cardamom powder and mushrooms which are chopped and whipped through the mixture to give it a special texture, and then topped with sugared mushroom.

The Dhabba owner Nav Basi said: “We always like to offer our customers something  a bit different in our restaurant and our chefs came up with this dish.

"We were all pleasantly surprised at how good this tasted and decided to run it.”

Mushrooms provide a lot of B vitamins as well as selenium, an antioxidant which helps to support the immune system which  is perfect for the sudden change of seasons.
