In the second part of Merchandise’s Guardian and Muzu live sessions, the alt-rock group perform Enemy, taken from their 2014 breakthrough album, After the End. The track, according to frontman Carson Cox, is a critique of those who critique the Floridian band. “We play music and put out records and there’s an awful lot of people that think they know what you’re doing better than you do and it’s funny. It’s a strange thing and, if you listen to it too much, maybe it becomes bad,” he says.
“I try to avoid reading all of the press and avoid reading anything. Most of the time if we’re in a magazine, I just give it to my mom, that’s about it. Even positive press is still dangerous, because if you take the positive stuff you have to take the negative; you can’t just pick and choose, so if you take one on, you take it all.”
