Mercedes ends up almost vertical at Swansea shopping centre car park

This was the scene that greeted visitors to a Swansea retail park one morning this week.

A car was left almost vertical at the West Swansea Retail Park on the morning of January 3 after 'accidentally' being driven down a steep bank and falling around 8ft.

The Mercedes car was stuck on a grassy verge just below the Dunelm store car park. You can get more Swansea news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.

At around 11.15am, one witness said they saw police at the scene and also a tow truck but there was no sign of a driver at the time. It's not yet known exactly how the car came to be in that position, but police have said no-one was hurt in the incident, which drew a number of concerned glances from people visiting some of the shops there.

Other businesses at the retail park include M&S, Costa and Pets at Home. They are located on the lower part of the retail park, with the Dunelm store and its car park on an area of raised land above it.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At around 9:30am a vehicle was accidentally driven down a steep bank by the Dunelm store in Fforestfach and dropped approximately 8ft. There were no reported injuries. The emergency services were called to support." You can read more stories about Swansea here.
