Mercedes driver arrested on suspicion of drug driving after smashing into car head-on

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Mercedes smashed into another car head-on.

Officers were called to the crash on Highfield Road in Farnworth, Bolton just before 4pm on Monday afternoon.

The driver of the white Mercedes was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving offences after colliding with a red Skoda.

Pictures from the scene show the Skoda written-off, with extensive damage to the front of the car.

The Mercedes was also badly damaged in the smash.

Debris from both cars, including the Skoda's number plate has been left strewn across the road.

It is not believed either of the drivers were seriously injured in the crash.

The GMP Traffic account tweeted: "Road traffic collision on Highfield Road Farnworth occurred just before 4pm today.

"The Mercedes collided head-on with the Skoda.

"Driver of the Merc has been arrested for drug driving offences.

"If anyone witnessed the events leading up to the collision or has dashcam, please contact 12136@gmp.police.uk."
