Mercedes 4x4 torched by four men who fled car after crashing near Glasgow playpark

Cops have launched a probe after a 4x4 was torched in Glasgow by four men who fled the car after crashing into a tree.

Dramatic scenes unfolded near a Scots playpark after the Mercedes crashed on Wallacewell Road in the city at 8.10pm on Sunday.

Four men in dark clothing were seen exiting the vehicle and then set the motor on fire.

They fled in the direction of local shops in the Barmulloch area.

Constable Paul Flynn, from Easterhouse Police Station, said: “We are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"We know that the area was busy with pedestrians and cars at the time, so are asking for people to let us know what they may have seen.

“If you were in the Wallacewell Road area and witnessed the crash and fire, or you have potential dashcam or CCTV footage from the scene, please contact us.

"Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 3232 of 17 October. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous"
