Menzies Distribution acquired JBT Distribution for an undisclosed amount - the second company it has bought within six months.
JBT Distribution is based in Bathgate, West Lothian, along with sites in Aberdeen, Inverness, East Kilbride, Lerwick and Kirkwall.
The logistic firm has annual sales of more than £23m, due to the size of its supply chain services business. Its acquisition by Menzies extends network coverage and adds an additional 200 vehicles and six operating sites.
JBT Distributions provides solutions across a number of sectors including retail, healthcare - with a specialism in temperature controlled logistics - packaging and parcel home delivery.
In December 2020, Menzies acquired Bibby Distribution, now named Menzies Distribution Solutions, which added 38 new operating sites and a large fleet.
In September 2018, private equity firm Endless acquired Menzies Distribution as part of its separation from John Menzies.
The newly independent company outlined at that time how it would develop the business through widening its service offering and geographical coverage.
Greg Michael, chief executive at Menzies Distribution, said: “We believe that through combining the complementary business with Menzies, there are significant opportunities to grow both businesses through unlocking further geographical capability and expanding services to both sets of customers in Scotland and throughout the UK and Ireland."
