Mental impairment plea over mum's killing

Allan Miller is accused of killing his 77-year-old mother, whose body was discovered by police. (AAP)

A man accused of murdering his mum has denied he's guilty of her murder on grounds of mental impairment.

Allan Miller entered a not guilty plea in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He's accused of killing his 77-year-old mum Maureen Miller, whose body was discovered by police during a welfare check on her Blackburn home in July last year.

Miller, 50, is accused of killing her sometime between June 24 and July 5, 2021, after a dispute.

They lived together since 2011.

Miller's lawyer Kyle McLaughlin said the case would be fast-tracked to Victoria's Supreme Court and the not guilty plea was on mental impairment grounds.

He's due to face the Supreme Court later this month.
