Manchester City fans would play Joao Cancelo over Benjamin Mendy in their strongest starting line -up if all players were fit.
Left-back has become a contentious area, with Mendy having the backing of the club, but fans are unimpressed with his start to the season that has already seen City drop five points in the Premier League.
City have Cancelo, Aleks Zinchenko and new signing Nathan Ake also available to cover at left-back, but when MEN Sport asked fans to pick their strongest side with no injuries, it was Portuguese Cancelo who was preferred.
In fact, only one new signing got the backing of supporters to start, with centre-back Ruben Dias lining up alongside Aymeric Laporte in a much more reassuring centre-back partnership than City have fielded in the last 18 months.
Kyle Walker was the most popular pick at right-back among fans, with Fernandinho picked in midfield now he is no longer required to assist at centre-back.
Interestingly, fans also picked Rodri in the midfield, despite regular complaints whenever Pep Guardiola chooses two defensive-minded midfielders in a starting line up. However, that could be more to do with the fact that there is no obvious partner for Kevin De Bruyne, meaning the two clear defensive midfielders were the most popular.

Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden will all rotate alongside De Bruyne, with the trio bringing different qualities to the team depending on the opponent. But for the fans' most popular XI, none of them make the grade.
In attack, new signing Ferran Torres must show more to persuade fans he is worthy of a start ahead of Riyad Mahrez, who prevailed on the right. Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero are unsurprisingly the two forwards to complete the team.
