Nottingham Forest need to sign a striker in January. If that wasn’t obvious before, it should be after Sunday.
We could maybe even do with getting two.
Either way, we need to sign a goalscorer. Goals win you games and that’s what puts you in the promotion mix. We need more goals in the team.
At the moment, we’re too reliant on Lewis Grabban.
If he’s fit, he should play. He should definitely have started against Wigan Athletic.
Rafa Mir had a few chances, but he couldn’t hit the target. And it was too easy for their defence. Mir didn’t cause them enough problems. They had an easy day of it.
Mir can still make an impact as a substitute, but I’m not sure I’d have him in the starting XI.
I can’t see him being the prolific goalscorer that we need.
We need someone who is a menace in the six-yard box; whether they score goals off their backside or off their nose - just someone who can keep finishing chances.
I’ve always been a fan of playing a big man up front, too, someone who can hold the ball up well.
Daryl Murphy used to do that for us. I’m not saying we should have kept him in the summer - because he was getting on a bit - just that it would be good to have someone who can do the same job.
Or someone like Charlie Austin. He’s a goalscorer and he holds the ball up.
Dwight Gayle would be another one I’d look at. He can’t get a game at Newcastle United. He knows where the back of the net is and he’s got pace up front as well.
There are players out there.
And we’ve got to make it a priority to find one when the transfer window opens.
