Men 'with machetes' seen on street as teenager is seriously injured - police have now launched an appeal

A teenager is in hospital with serious injuries after men 'with machetes' were spotted on a street in Salford.

The group of 'several males' were seen in the Mimosa Drive area of Swinton at around 8.45pm last night (June 23).

They were wielding machetes, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a 19-year-old man with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital.

Enquiries are ongoing into the 'isolated' incident and no arrests have been made yet.

Sefton Road, which is around half a mile away from Mimosa Drive, was cordoned off by police last night.

Pictures showed several police vehicles stationed at the scene and a section of the road taped off.

Officers were pictured conducting door-to-door enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Karl Perry of Salford CID, said: "We believe this to be an isolated incident and a thorough investigation has started to try and locate the offenders and bring them to justice.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact 0161 856 5049, quoting incident 2807 of the 24th June 2021.

"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
