Men who eat 60g of nuts a day have better orgasms, study reveals

It’s a snack that many of us enjoy, and now a new study has revealed that eating nuts can actually have a beneficial effect on men’s sexual function.

The study, by researchers from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute, found that consuming 60 grams of nuts a day improves sexual desire and orgasm quality in men.

In the study, 83 healthy men were divided into two groups and followed over a 14 week period.

The first group followed their normal western diet, while the other followed their normal diet, but with the addition of 60g of walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds.

At the end of the 14 weeks, the participants completed questionnaires about their sexual function.

Surprisingly, the results revealed that men who ate 60g of nuts a day had stronger sexual desire and better orgasm quality.

In their study, published in Nutrients , the researchers led by Albert Salas-Huetos, wrote: “In conclusion, our study suggests that compliance with a healthy diet supplemented with mixed nuts may help to improve erectile and sexual desire.”

The reason for these benefits remains unclear, although the researchers suggest that they may be down to the antioxidants and vitamins present in nuts.

They added: “Several antioxidants (e.g., polyphenols) and vitamins, that are present in nuts, have been suggested to be effective treatments for ED (erectile dysfunction).”

However, the researchers added that further studies are needed to confirm this hypothesis.
