Two men will face trial after they pleaded not guilty to charges related to the alleged rape and assault of a teenage girl in a Lake Macquarie suburb last year.
Darcy Howison, 20, and co-accused James Walters, 25, faced Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, where Magistrate Janine Lacy sent the charges against them to Newcastle District Court so a trial date could be arranged.
Mr Walters and Mr Howison were charged in October 2020, soon after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two unknown men at Glendale.
Mr Howison faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of an alleged victim aged under 16 years old, intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16 years old and sexual intercourse with a child aged between 14 and 16 years old.
Mr Walters has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated sexual assault of an alleged victim aged under 16 years old, aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged between 14 and 16, intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16 years old, stalking/intimidation and two counts of sexually touching another person without consent.
Both men remain on conditional bail and will face Newcastle District Court on July 29.
