Men sentenced after stolen BMW and forklift discovered at industrial estate

Two men have been sentenced after police discovered a stolen BMW and a forklift at an industrial estate in Nottinghamshire.

Tadas Petrauskas, 19 and Evaldas Balsys, 18, were arrested on Sunday, April 7 and were sentenced after admitting to receiving the two stolen vehicles.

The arrests were made after officers tracked a BMW X5 to Boughton Industrial Estate, near Newark, and found it had been stripped into parts.

The vehicle had been stolen from Hounslow in London on the same day.

The men, who were both from Derby Road, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 9.

Petrauskas was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay court costs of £85.

Balsys was handed a 12-month Community Order and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work with an additional payment of £85 for court costs.

They had both admitted to receiving the stolen BMW and the forklift truck which had been stolen from Nottinghamshire in March.
