
Japan's men's goalball team got its debut Paralympic campaign off to a strong start Wednesday, beating Algeria 13-4 in the preliminary round.
Meanwhile, the women's team stumbled against Turkey, losing 7-1 to the defending Paralympic champions. It will have to improve when it faces Brazil on Friday if it hopes to repeat the success it achieved in 2012 when it secured gold at the London Paralympics.
The men's team's next match is against the United States on Friday.
