Men run from Mercedes crash on M62 'leaving injured women in car'

Three men reportedly ran away from a crash leaving two women injured after a Mercedes smashed into the central reservation on the M62.

The Liverpool Echo reported that two women, aged 21 and from Doncaster, were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries after emergency services attended the scene this morning.

Part of the M62 between the Rocket and Huyton/Knotty Ash was closed following the smash.

Merseyside Police said they discovered two men with injuries close to the scene after a search of the area.

They are still looking for a third, who is also believed to have been injured in the incident.

The crash, which happened at approximately 6:15 am, involved a Mercedes E-class which police say collided with the central reservation on the M62.

A 30-year-old and 21-year-old from Leicester were taken to hospital after being found and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident led to the closure of the motorway westbound between junction 4 (the Rocket) and junction 5 (Knotty Ash/Huyton) of the M62.

Merseyside Police is appealing for anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the missing man to contact them while witness and CCTV enquiries remain ongoing.
