Terry Armstrong, 18, of York Road, has now been charged with possession of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of controlled Class A drugs.

Callum Woods, 20, and of no fixed address, was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Both men will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, on Friday, November 19. They currently both remain in custody.

A 20-year-old woman from West Derby has been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said: "Our officers will continue to carry out stop searches and execute warrants to remove from circulation drugs and firearms which could have seriously affected families and destroyed the lives of people in the community.

"Our streets are made safer with every weapon we take out of circulation and every arrest we make in relation to firearms.

"I am delighted that we were able to recover this weapon and prevent it from causing fear and harm in our communities.

"We are committed to taking weapons off our streets and, rest assured, if you tell us about any suspected possession or offences we will take action and put those responsible before the courts."
