Men in balaclavas raid Consett home for safe containing thousands of pounds

Four men in balaclavas raided a County Durham home and stole a safe containing thousands of pounds.

The suspected burglary happened at a house on Lincoln Road, in Moorside, Consett, on December 23.

The men, who were wearing black balaclavas, are believed to have smashed a window with a crowbar and stole a safe that contained around £6,000 before driving off in a blue Nissan 4x4.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and have since been released under investigation.

Durham Constabulary officers are now appealing for information over the burglary that happened at around 2.15pm.

Anyone who has information relating to the incident should call 101 and ask to speak to Investigative Officer, Ruth Taylor, quoting incident reference number 199 of December 23.
