Men get out of van and attack three cyclists in road before driving away

Three men were attacked by a gang of strangers who were traveling in a Ford Transit van.

Merseyside Police were called to Bewley Drive in Kirkby at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, April 12, following reports three men were attacked on the road. The men were traveling on pedal bikes when three people got out of a van that was travelling behind them.

The people in the van, three men, then attacked the cyclists before driving away. Two of the men suffered head injuries and were treated in hospital.

Officers have carried out extensive CCTV examinations and witness enquiries in the area and detectives are continuing to appeal for more information.

Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “This was a violent unprovoked attack on three men who suffered several injuries and we are doing everything we can to find the people responsible and bring them to justice. We are continuing to carry out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries in the area and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the assault or has any dashcam footage of the incident on Bewley Drive at around 3.30pm last Wednesday.

"Similarly, if you saw the white coloured Ford Transit Van on Bewley Drive at the time of the attack please contact police. Any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.

"Such violence will not be tolerated on our streets in Merseyside. Our officers are working hard to ensure the safety of our communities in Kirkby.

"If you witnessed any part of the incident or saw the suspects, then do let us know as any information you hold could support our enquiries.”
