- Three men and the family of a fourth are expected to receive a tentative $35 million settlement from the city of Austin.
- The settlement follows their wrongful accusation and conviction for the 1991 rape and murder of four teenage girls at a yogurt shop.
- Robert Springsteen, Michael Scott, Forrest Welborn and Maurice Pierce were finally exonerated in February after investigators determined the crime was committed by a suspect who died in 1999.
- New DNA evidence and ballistics reviews identified Robert Eugene Brashers as the sole killer, linking him to the Austin case through a DNA sample from under a victim's fingernail.
- Brashers, who died in 1999 during a standoff with police, has also been linked to other violent crimes across the US through advanced DNA analysis.
