- Two men, Steven Sansom and Adam Watson, have been charged with attempted murder following an attack on Urfan Sharif, the father of murdered schoolgirl Sara Sharif, at HMP Belmarsh.
- It is understood the charges relate to an incident in which Sharif was allegedly ambushed in a cell at the category A prison by two inmates armed with the jagged lid of a tuna tin on 1 January 2025.
- Metropolitan Police confirmed that the 43-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries, receiving treatment inside the prison for cuts to his neck and face.
- The Crown Prosecution Service said that both men are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 26 August.
- Sharif is serving a minimum 40-year life sentence for the murder and long-term abuse of his 10-year-old daughter.
