Men are 'far more likely to dress up for Instagram holiday posts than women', survey finds

Men are twice as likely to dress specifically to look good in Instagram photos compared to women, a new survey has revealed.

Out of 2,000 people surveyed by fashion e-commerce retailer SilkFred, half the amount of women were conscious of how they looked on social media posts compared to men.

In addition, a third of holidaymakers admitted to being conscious of looking good on their trip.

The surprise findings show a clear disparity between male and female social media pressure.

Whilst the pressure to look good is strong, the survey revealed 40 percent of respondents do not take a spare pair of underwear on holidays.

So it appears holidaymakers are more about looking good on the outside, but not bothering what they look like underneath.

In terms of what items they are buying, 29 percent of respondents were willing to spend more than they would usually on comfortable shoes for their trip.

Sunglasses and shorts have 16 percent willing to spend more than usual.

They are buying in bulk as well, with 40 percent buying six or more clothing items for an average of £21-£60.

This means that the average 18-year-old, if going on holiday twice a year, would spend £1,560 on holiday clothes by the age of 30.

That equates to a two-week trip they are missing out on.
