Men accused of murdering dad of two appear in court

Two men accused of murdering a dad of two have appeared in court.

Patrick Boyle, 26, was shot twice in the chest in a street attack on Newway, just off East Prescot Road in Huyton on July 1.

The young dad-of-two was believed to have been alone in the street when he was shot, in what police suspect was a targeted attack.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Two men charged with his murder appeared the Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, November 22.

Ben Doyle, 24, of Lyme Grove, Huyton and Thomas Walker, 20, of no fixed address, are charged with murder, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life

Doyle appeared in the dock and Walker appeared via video link from prison.

They were both further remanded in custody, after a bail application for Doyle was rejected by Judge Andrew Menary, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, until December 20 when they are expected to enter their pleas.

A third man, Reuben Murphy, 25, of Oak Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, appeared in court last month facing the same charges and he is due to appear on the same date.

A provisional trial date has been fixed to begin on March 28 next year.
