Two men allegedly caught carrying a till with €800 in cash from UFC star Conor McGregor’s pub have been refused bail.

Dublin District Court was told Charles Darcy, 33, and 34-year-old Jason Paget were arrested in the early hours of Thursday.

They were charged with burglary and criminal damage of the Marble Arch pub in Drimnagh, South Dublin, and trespassing at houses in the area. Garda Brendan D’Arcy and Garda Sean Magee said after officer investigated reports of a burglary, saw two men attempting to carry the cash register out of the pub before they fled.

It was alleged CCTV showed Darcy, of Croftwood Park, Ballyfermot, West Dublin, getting out of a car outside the pub and forcing entry. Defence counsel Keith Spencer said his client contended that he had been in a house in the area.

Paget’s lawyer Karl Monahan also said his client, whose address was given as John Field Road, had also be visiting a house in the area.

Refusing bail Judge Brian O’Shea remanded them in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.

He also held the case, subject to consent of the DPP, should be sent forward for trial in the circuit court.
