Memphis Depay reacts after former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku's goal dedication

Lyon forward Memphis Depay has reacted after former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku dedicated a goal for Inter Milan to his injured friend.

25-year-old Depay started the season in blistering form after hitting nine goals in 13 Ligue 1 matches and five in five Champions League appearances before suffering a serious injury.

The forward is now set to be out of action until the end of the season and could also miss the Netherlands' campaign at the European Championships next summer due to a cruciate ligament injury.

That major blow for the former United ace was confirmed last week and Lukaku , a former teammate of Depay's at Old Trafford, dedicated a goal against Genoa to his friend.

That earned a reaction from Depay on social media, who reposted an image shared by Lukaku alongside Instagram alongside a king emoji.

Lukaku's dedication wasn't the only class act from the Belgian striker during Inter's 4-0 win against Genoa, as he also allowed 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito to take a penalty to score his first goal for the club.

Since leaving Old Trafford in the summer, Lukaku has been in superb form for Antonio Conte's side after netting 12 goals in 17 Serie A matches so far.

Meanwhile, Depay issued a message on Instagram thanking fans for their support following his injury, stating: "I just wanna say that I really appreciate all the support I've received in the last few days!!

"Your prayers have definitely been heard. I'll be out for a little while but ya'll know I got a heart of a lion. God's timing not mine."
