Memphis Depay one of three summer transfers Chelsea can secure for Graham Potter in January

Chelsea's attacking line has somewhat misfired so far this season and there have been countless calls from supporters for the club to address the situation over the January transfer window. Despite adding the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling to the squad over the summer, the Blues are yet to discover the right recipe for success going forward.

There have been moments under newly-appointed head coach Graham Potter where the attacking play has been a bit more free-flowing, but in the final games before the World Cup started, the attack looked blunt. Aubameyang is yet to show what we know he is capable of and it's a similar story with Sterling.

Mason Mount and Kai Havertz have both underwhelmed for their club so far this term, while Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Armando Broja haven't really been given too much of a chance to prove themselves. It could well be an area Chelsea look to address when the January transfer window opens in around 24 days' time.

Rules allow clubs to start negotiating contracts for the following season with players from abroad who are entering the final six months of their deals. So, with that being said, football.london looks at a few attacking options from abroad, who are about to be the final six months of their contracts, that could be available.

Memphis Depay

The former Manchester United attacker sees his Barcelona contract expire at the end of the season despite only joining the club last year. Depay, 28, has struggled with injury this season but remains a key player for both club and country.

Chelsea registered an interest in the Netherlands international over the summer transfer window but never made a move for the attacker. That could change in January, with Depay free to speak to foreign clubs should he not extend with Barcelona before then.

"I don't want to think about the past, I'm focused on the World Cup," Depay admitted last month. "I also don't want to think beyond this competition. I don't know what will happen after the World Cup."

Moussa Dembele

The 26-year-old striker has been loosely linked with a move to Chelsea for a while now, but there was never any concrete speculation. Dembele sees his Lyon deal expire at the end of the season and his agent could be very busy over the January transfer window.

With Aubameyang a short-term option for Chelsea, there could be scope for Todd Boehly to look at bringing a new striker in as soon as possible. Whether or not Dembele fits the bill remains to be seen, but he's certainly a man the club have looked at in the past.

"At no time did I say I didn't want to extend, I said I wanted to take my time and make a rational decision at the end of the season," Dembele explained in October. "The arrival of Laurent Blanc gave us a new lease of life and pushed us to work harder because obviously everyone wants to show off.

"The new project can make me want to continue at Lyon, of course. After that, one season is a long time. I'll continue to work because I am young and I have room for improvement."

Marco Asensio

Asensio, another man who has been linked with Chelsea on countless occasions in the past, is free to talk to foreign clubs when January is upon us. The 26-year-old has featured just nine times for Real Madrid in La Liga this season and could look to move elsewhere to continue his progression.

However, the Spain international recently revealed that he would like to stay with Real Madrid for years to come, but admitted that it wasn't entirely up to him. In a recent interview with Radio Marca, Asensio said: "There is talk that I am changing Real Madrid's mind.

"But I have always tried to give the best that I have inside and then it will be known. The one who decides, too, is the club, it does not only depend on me. After the World Cup, we'll both make a decision.

"What if I want to renew? Hopefully it can happen and I'll be very happy at Real Madrid for many years, hopefully everything will be given to stay for 10 more years."
