Memories of the Savoy wanted as the Glasgow nightclub celebrates 45th anniversary

The Savoy is celebrating its 45th birthday this weekend... and bosses want to hear all your memories from 'The Dancin'.'

The Sauchiehall Street nightspot swung open its doors on Friday April 25, 1975 – becoming one of the most popular in town.

Did your parents meet on the dance floor of the 'Suavvy Sav?' Or maybe you've had a few Venoms there yourself on Sav Sundays.

Some of you diehards may even have the coveted Savoy Membership card hidden away in an old wallet... Now there's a blast from the past.

The Savoy said: "Way back in 1975 when the Prime Minister was Harold Wilson, the Bay City Rollers were topping the charts and Sportscene was broadcasting its first episode, staff were busy above the Savoy Centre getting ready to open Savoy Nightclub."

If you've got pictures or stories you want to share with The Savoy, message them on Facebook or comment on the post.
