Dec. 10--In the wake of a San Bernardino terror attack that left 14 dead, members of a Placentia-based group said they have added the victims' names to a traveling memorial that honors those who have died in the war against terrorism.
The Rear Area Support Foundation erected its "wall of remembrance" on Thursday at the San Bernardino Public Golf Course, 1494 S. Waterman Ave., said Monica Lagos, San Bernardino city spokeswoman.
The memorial is located across from the Inland Regional Center, where last week's attack occurred, and will remain there until Monday.
The display is one of several emotional tributes to the victims.
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, hundreds are expected to gather at Fleming Park in Colton to honor all of the victims, including 22 who were injured.
Attackers Tashfeen Malik and Syed Rizwan Farook were killed last Wednesday during a gun battle with police in the streets of San Bernardino. The married couple stormed into a holiday party for public health employees and fired more than 65 shots. Their actions were inspired by the terror organization Islamic State, federal authorities say.
The 14 victims were identified as: Robert Adams, 40, of Yucaipa; Isaac Amanios, 60, of Fontana; Bennetta Bet-Badal, 46, of Rialto; Harry Bowman, 46, of Upland; Sierra Clayborn, 27, of Moreno Valley; Juan Espinoza, 50, of Highland; Aurora Godoy, 26, of San Jacinto; Shannon Johnson, 45, of Los Angeles; Larry Kaufman, 42, of Rialto; Damian Meins, 58, of Riverside; Tin Nguyen, 31, of Santa Ana; Nicholas Thalasinos, 52, of Colton, 52; Yvette Velasco, 27, of Fontana, and Michael Wetzel, 37, of Lake Arrowhead.
