This book is one of the few books that actually made me laugh out loud (all the others happen to be by Roald Dahl).
After being stung by a ‘zom-bee’ Adam has a huge allergic reaction and dies. Now, after three months of being stuck in a rather cramped coffin, he finally rises from the dead and makes his way back home to get his old life (or rather his un-life) back on track. And this is when he finds out he is dead!
As a character, Adam is just your typical 12 year old boy. Loves comics, superheroes… and has a strange obsession with hygiene. Getting on with his afterlife is proving more difficult than he thought; like the problem of explaining why he’s back from the dead.
Adam’s relationship with his freak friends Ernesto (a chupacabra from Mexico) and Corina (a half-vampire from Transylvania) is a rather, well, unusual one. They are fond of each other in their own way but this is not shown until near the end of the book.
The idea of a zombie obsessed with hygiene is such a hilarious image that I have to congratulate the author on such a genius idea.
I would thoroughly recommend this to readers of Ribblestrop as it is a hilarious mish-mash of events and would make a satisfying read for any reader.
