Members of violent Scottish Proud Boys group allowed to keep NHS jobs despite being unmasked by Record

Members of a violent far-right group have continued working for the NHS despite being unmasked by the Record.

We told last week how Scots were acting in the name of the Proud Boys, which has been accused of inciting racial hatred and the US Capitol riot.

Now we can reveal former soldier William Davies – who has been reportedly running survival skills camps for members – has been allowed to continue his work as an estates officer at St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

Keir Wotherspoon has also been allowed to continue his work with the NHS in Glasgow.

Bosses refused to say whether the pair would face any disciplinary action.

Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie said: "White supremacy is terrorism and the Proud Boys and other groups are currently under investigation for their part in trying to overturn American democracy.

“This dangerous racist paramilitary organisation must be treated as a serious threat and their activists must have no place in delivering our vital public services.”

When asked about Davies, NHS Lothian said: “We are unable to comment on matters relating to our staff.”

In relation to Wotherspoon, an NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesman said: “We are unable to discuss individual staff members.”

Wotherspoon and Davies both failed to respond when contacted for comment.
