Members of Manchester United coaching staff self-isolating in Covid scare ahead of Newcastle United fixture

Manchester United will be without members of the coaching staff for Sunday evening's match against Newcastle United due to them having to self-isolate, the club has announced.

Following Thursday's successful trip to Turin which saw the 4-0 defeat of Real Sociedad, United return to Premier League action with the visit of Newcastle to Old Trafford.

However, there will be some changes in the United dugout for the game as some of the coaching staff are undergoing a period of self-isolation due to Covid-19.

As a result, former United midfielder Nicky Butt, who is head of first-team development at the club, as well as head of development Mark Dempsey, will join manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the bench for the match.

The club said in a statement: "Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the bench this evening due to some of the coaching staff having to self isolate.

"The home Premier League game against Newcastle United at Old Trafford will kick off at 19:00 GMT."

It's understood that no players have been affected and the game is still set to go ahead as planned.

Following two successive draws to Everton and West Brom in the league, United are hoping to get back to winning ways against the Magpies and close the gap on leaders Manchester City.
