Member of staff at Glasgow GP surgery tests positive for coronavirus

A member of staff at a GP surgery in Glasgow has tested positive for coronavirus.

The worker, at Keppoch Medical Practice in the Possilpark area, became unwell on Tuesday of this week and self-isolated.

The GP surgery, based within Possilpark Health & Care Centre, was then informed that the staff member had tested positive for the virus yesterday afternoon.

And they have advised people who use the facility that anyone who has been in direct contact with the staff member in question will be contacted individually.

A statement released by the Practice said: "Our colleague who tested positive for the coronavirus has not been in the practice since becoming unwell on Tuesday morning.

Keppoch Medical Practice is based within Possilpark Health & Care Centre (NHS)

"We were informed of the results this afternoon.

"People collecting prescriptions, letters and forms or having any conversations at reception desk are not contacts with this case and are not at any higher risk as a result.

"We are not able to identify or give further details of the case to respect their right to confidentiality.

"We send our best wishes to our colleague for a rapid and full recovery".

The news comes as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Glasgow rose to 31, with another 10 people officially diagnosed since yesterday.
