Melvin Gordon had as much to do with Sunday’s game at Ford Field between the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers as you or I did. Like us, Gordon sat and watched the game from afar instead of playing running back for the Chargers. But that didn’t stop Gordon, who is holding out for a new contract from Los Angeles, from taking a cheap shot at the Lions.
Gordon tweeted out a cringeworthy message derisively directed at Lions kicker Matt Prater after the veteran missed both an extra point and a field goal in the first half of Sunday’s game.
Never mind that Gordon refuses to try to help his team win. Never mind that the Chargers’ own kicker, Ty Long, missed a field goal as well in Los Angeles’ 13-10 loss.
No, that’s not the worst part. Gordon’s tweet makes fun of Prater’s well-documented alcoholism. The Lions kicker has been very open and honest about his battles with the bottle, and here’s a guy who won’t even bother to play in the game taking a cheap shot at Prater … in a game the team he refuses to help loses because (in part) their own kicking game isn’t very good.
Bad form, Mr. Gordon. Very bad form.
