Melvin Gordon was the talk of the town the last few weeks as he made it known that he was rooting for the Patriots. We still aren’t sure as to why. My guess is still he had a bet against the Rams. Either way, Gordon and company have returned to rooting against the Patriots. All is well again.
Anthony Lynn and his staff will take a deeper dive into the Patriots film now that the season is over, he said. Here is Lynn on exactly what he is looking for when they rewatch the game:
“You have to evaluate that film,” Lynn said. “My goodness, if you put yourself in that position and you don’t succeed, you better learn something — you better get something out of it. That’s what we want to do. We’ll figure out exactly what they did to us. … I don’t think you can just go play a game like that and be the same.”
Health will help. The Chargers were playing the game without their top three linebackers. That’s not an excuse, that’s just a fact. Keeping it close in the fourth quarter will help as well. You have to put pressure on the Patriots. The Chargers didn’t do that. Finally, get them out of their element. New England’s home-field advantage is unlike any other team in the NFL. There is some voodoo going on there. Lynn will have plenty of time to figure it out.
