Melville Ford Bridge has been closed due to a rise in the river level.
Maitland City Council reported the closure of the bridge on Monday morning.

Maitland State Emergency Service also took to their Facebook page to inform residents of the closure and urge people not to approach the area.
"Please do not risk your own life, or the lives of our Flood Rescue Technicians by driving through floodwater," the service posted on its Facebook page.
The region has received 114.2mm of rain since Friday with more expected to hit later this week.

It was an unlikely sight this morning in the normally shallow waters of Melville Ford but with the recent rise in the river, a local boat enthusiast took the opportunity to showcase their craft.
The vessel, which has seen better days, has been tied to the bridge with a sign which says 'free' - not sure if that means free to a good home or free Aberglasslyn boat hire.
