Melted double deckers revealed in shocking aftermath of Glasgow First Bus depot fire

Double decker buses were virtually 'melted' by the heat of the flames after fire broke out at a Glasgow depot.

Shocking pictures of the aftermath show the extent of the damage caused at First Bus' Cathcart Road base in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Firefighters raced to the scene after the flames engulfed the two vehicles shortly after midnight.

Workers at the depot were seen racing to move other buses and cars parked nearby, and fortunately there were no reported casualties.

First Bus' operations director Duncan Cameron praised staff on the scene and firefighters for their quick response, saying: "Full credit to our operations and engineering team on site for their swift reactions to ensure that the fire was contained and no one was injured.

"A huge thanks to the Scottish Fire Service who were in attendance and quickly contained the blaze. An investigation is underway to establish the root cause of the incident."
