Westlake Hospital was ordered to remain open until at least Tuesday as Melrose Park fights to keep the hospital from closing.
A Cook County judge on Friday ordered the hospital to maintain services while the judge can become familiar with the case.
State regulators have approved owner Pipeline Health’s request to close the 230-bed hospital.
A community group, West Suburban Action Project, and village officials were concerned the hospital would close sometime Friday.
Ari Scharg, an attorney for Melrose Park, said Pipeline officials have “emailed all medical staff and told them that all patients must be transferred out by 4 pm because the hospital is closing.”
Neither hospital nor Pipeline officials were available for comment.
