Melissa McCarthy has spilled details of working with “sweet” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on her birthday video.
The Bridesmaids star, 50, appeared in the Duchess of Sussex’s 40x40 campaign, which was launched to celebrate Meghan’s milestone 40th birthday earlier this month.
The video also features a series of ‘bloopers’ from filming the star-studded clip, and in one scene, Prince Harry can be seen juggling three balls in the garden of their sprawling Montecito home.
Dressed down in sunglasses and a polo shirt, he throws the balls into the air as they fall to the ground, before trying again with just two balls, as he flashes a smile at wife Meghan and runs off.
In the clip, Melissa can be seen laughing hysterically, as Meghan exclaims: “What the?” before laughing at her husband’s juggling efforts.
However, he confessed to Melissa he was afraid he’d “look weird” with his juggling act, and asked the Oscar-nominated actress for her advice.
“She's [Meghan Markle] doing such an amazing thing to celebrate her 40th,” Melissa told Access Hollywood.
“I just love that she is like, 'Oh, what can I do to put some good and help some people out?' Well that is awfully nice.
"Then in comes Harry and he's like, ‘I can juggle’... Then he's like, 'Is it going to be weird if I stand outside and juggle?'
"I was like, ‘Weird in a way that will make me watch it five million times!’” Melissa laughed.
And the former Gilmore Girls star was full of praise for Meghan and Harry, and their highly publicised split from the Royal Family.
“They were so sweet and funny. I just find them very inspiring. They're carving out their own lives. They're carving out their lives for their kids,” she explained.
Melissa also had a message for the couples’ critics, and lambasted those who have dismissed Meghan and Harry’s philanthropic efforts.
“The way she wants to celebrate her 40th is by helping and empowering other women. How do you not get behind that? They don't take themselves too seriously.
“She said, ‘let's do it in a fun way and see if we can drum up more people helping more women kind of get back into the workforce’... I was so pleased to be a part of it,” Melissa added.
As part of her 40x40 campaign, mother-of-two Meghan asked 40 well-known faces, including British fashion designer Stella McCartney, award-winning singer Adele, and American poet Amanda Gorman, to kickstart the initiative by offering 40 minutes of their time to mentor women.
"For my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 MINUTES OF MENTORSHIP to support women re-entering the workforce,” Meghan said in a statement on social media.
"With this time, I hope they each help someone advance a professional life on her own terms, and, I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well."
