Melissa McCarthy dishes on Gilmore Girls co-star Yanic Truesdale's French accent

Melissa McCarthy may be known for the plethora of films and shows she has both starred in and produced, but the actress shot to fame for her role on Gilmore Girls.

In her apocalyptic comedy show God's Favourite Idiot, that came out earlier this year, Melissa was reunited with a cast mate from the show and has since dished on a hilarious misconception about the grumpy concierge's accent.

For years fans have suggested that Yanic Truesdale's accent needed some work, but Melissa took to Instagram to clear something up for longtime and new viewers of the show.

Sharing a picture of herself, Yanic and Lauren Graham, with her 11.3 million Instagram followers Melissa finally spilled her thoughts on the matter.

Melissa wrote: "I remember someone (randomly) saying Yanic’s French accent was terrible - we laughed so hard - he had only spoken English for like 10 months.

"He had ONLY spoken french his entire life. Oh, people."

The actress also made a quip about the notable height difference between herself and her past co-stars saying: "Also I had no idea I was this short?! [heart emoji]"

Yanic, who played grumpy French concierge Michel Gerard on the show for a span of seven years, was born in Montreal and studied at the National Theatre School of Canada.

Although he'd been speaking French all of his life, it had been with a Canadian accent which is likely what has been tripping up fans for all of the years.

One Instagram user wrote on Melissa's post: "Ha! Those people just don't recognize a French Canadian accent. Real ones know."

15 years on from the original series wrapping the two actors still remain in contact, with Melissa asking him to come and play an angel on her show God's Favourite Idiot.

Speaking to E! News, Yanic opened up about what it was like to work with Melissa again.

He said: "I was so thrilled when they both sent me a video, it was a few days before Christmas, and they said 'would you like to play an angel and come and meet us in Australia?'. My first answer was, 'When?'."

Yanic went on to say he was intrigued to work with his former co-star again, especially as her career had grown to include her producing the show at the same time as acting in it.

Yanic said Melissa and her husband Ben Falcone's approach to acting and producing a show they created at the same time was so smooth that it seemed 'effortless'.

When Yanic and Melissa were asked who of their Gilmore Girl co-stars they would want to share the screen with again they said Kelly Bishop and Lauren Graham.
